This is a story about people who live near swamps in Tyumen region. They are called «zabolotnie tatars». Zabolotnie tatars are a subgroup of the siberian tatars and they are descendants of the samoyedic and ugric peoples of the West Siberia – tenets, khanty and mansi, who adopted siberian tatar language and converted to Islam, while also preserving some elements of traditional beliefs.

Traditional occupations of zabolotnie tatars are hunting and fishing. Their villages was built on hard earth areas surrounded with swamps and taiga.
